Dropping the tempo, but upping the ampage, Bristol-based Spektiv returns for our very first 140 offering. A close label friend who’s returning with a second EP on Transparent Audio, he this time serves up a selection of 140BPM treats centred around villainous sonics and monstrous sound design.
Kicking off proceedings with ‘Howler’, Spektiv wastes no time in demonstrating what his 140-based sound is all about. Murky and tense, minimal, yet sonically complex, this ones not for the faint-hearted.
As we delve into the project, the headline track ‘Pressure’ follows suit, following the evil themes that run through the veins of this EP whilst a frenzy of soul-shaking stabs make this a guaranteed sound system destroyer.
Last, but by no means least, Spektiv teams up with 140 specialist NO-SINE in the form of ‘Empty Club’. With wubs and subs that sound like they’ve been curated on a planet far from our own, this collaboration places the icing on top of an EP that’s as brilliant as it is devilish.
After the success of Spektiv’s ‘Invert’ EP on the label last year, having the versatile beatsmith back on Transparent Audio was never in question. This latest offering also sees us delve into the world of 140BPM music for the first time, showcasing a less known, yet just as captivating side to Spektiv's sonic palette.
Exeter-born, Bristol-based; Spektiv has spent the past two years cultivating an eclectic electronic sound that pivots around the sonics of Dubstep and Drum & Bass. It's now time for him to unleash it on the world. With a diverse sound that traverses melody, smooth synths, weighty basslines, and villainous sound design that can pivot between being both minimal and sonically complex, Spektiv's short time in the industry has already showcased the intricacies that formulate his unique sound. His debut EP, 'Invert', landed on Bristol-based imprint Transparent Audio, announcing his arrival upon the scene in the process. Since then, Spektiv has returned to the label with singles and collaborations and is now on the verge of releasing his very first 140BPM offering in the form of the 'Pressure' EP.
Hailing from the seaside city of Brighton, No-Sine has risen through the underground music ranks by veering away from the beauty that defines his hometown, instead incorporating a sonically evil, murky, and bass-heavy philosophy at the heart of his sound. Although not a stranger to incorporating elements of melody into the fabric of his productions, No-Sine has made a name for himself via the villainous DNA that has so far defined the success of his 140-170BPm-based music. With a punk influence threading itself through the feel and aesthetic of his music, No-Sine prides his music on the aura of untainted creative expression that he has adopted for this project. With his single 'Chaos' reaching #1 on the Juno Download Dubstep Charts, as well as having released EP's with Incurzion Audio, Vihara, and Monk Audio, the only way is up for No-Sine.
