Resslek - Rimdaal

about

You know the saying - two heads are better than one, and on 25th March, 2022, Resslek and Polarized prove that age-old saying to be nothing but true once again. Landing on Transparent Audio for the label's first collaborative body of work that's been solely curated between two artists, the 'Kift EP' collates both producer's brilliantly erratic production styles into a four-track frenzy of frantic funk, succulent stabs, and an overall feeling of unadulterated minimal mayhem.

Tailor-made for the rave, Lisbon-based Resslek and Birmingham-based Polarized have served up a high-octane collection of tracks that are guaranteed to send any dancefloor into a state of utter bedlam. Described as "funky minimal happy accidents" by Polarized himself, the pair kick off proceedings in that exact fashion with the bouncy sonics of 'Equalizer', which was made the day after Resslek's debut UK show in Birmingham at the beginning of this year.

As we move through the EP, 'Rahhh' highlights the duo's love for dancefloor-friendly music with its focus on chaotic synth work and gritty subs. The headline track 'Kift' proudly pivots around foundations of power and punch, and before the EP concludes, 'Rimdaal' treats us to a lesson in funky drum and bass sonics. Unpredictable in its movement, packed with groove, and perfectly stripped back, Resslek and Polarized sign off in signature fashion.

Resslek
Sonorously minimal, sub-heavy, and sound system smashing, Lisbon-based Resslek has carved a unique underground strain of drum and bass music true to his roots. Through these deep, distorted basses, snappy drums, and preternatural sounds, he looks set to take the scene by storm.

Born in Germany and later raised in Portugal, it was the sound systems of a local bar that plunged Resslek into the vast ocean of Drum & Bass that he has submerged himself in ever since. Since diving headfirst into the world of production, he has released on the likes of Skank&Bass, Transparent Audio, Boey Audio, Engage Audio, and Forbidden Frequencies, showing no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

"This is my first collaborative EP and it's with a really cool artist in Polarized. It differs from my past releases, so I'm really excited to have these tracks out on TA." - Resslek

Polarized
With a sonic palette that’s been fine-tuned with the dancefloor in mind, Birmingham-based Jordan Harris, known better in the scene under the moniker Polarized, has found his true passion in the high octane sounds of drum and bass.

Having emerged in 2020 after his debut release on Incurzion Audio, his collation of gritty, wobbly, and crisp sound design with the occasional splash of melody has since seen him release on the likes of SINE Audio, Co-Lab Recordings, and Transparent Audio.

With a love for the dark and rolling side of the genre, Polarized has firmly cemented himself as one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from the Midlands in recent years.

"I think this is a perfect clash between me and Resslek. I love his minimal funky style and it works perfectly with what I do. We've created some really dancefloor-friendly beats." - Polarized
